AcanthusTech Online Toolbox Guide

Acanthus Technology, Inc. offers a wide-range of technical support options, both pre-sales and post-sales. Please visit our Contact Us page to locate the nearest branch office.

The rest of this page is a collection of self-help articles and tools that you can use free of charge that we offer as a service to our clients and the Internet community at large.

Maintenance Schedule

Many people have asked us how they can keep their PCs running smoothly and in top-notch form. Our suggested Maintenance Schedule is designed to answer that question for small business and home office workers. The steps are somewhat general in nature, and your specific computing environment may require modification to these suggestions. If you have a network administrator, please check with him or her before attempting to follow these steps; some may be unnecessary or impossible in such an environment. These suggestions can also be used for home PCs, but may be more restrictive than many home users would prefer. Again, these are just suggestions, and ultimately you may need to adjust accordingly.

Spam Block List Toolbox

Spam, or unsolicited commercial e-mail (UCE), is one of the most irksome pests plauging the Internet. There is a related problem that, though less common, can be very serious if it happens to you or your company. You could become blacklisted in the Internet community for allegedly sending spam. If your domain or IP address becomes block listed (or placed in a "block hole" or "blackhole"), any e-mail sent from your mail server could be rejected or simply disappear without notice. Our Block List Toolbox allows you to test if your mail server is block listed and offers some advice on what to do if it is.

Network Toolbox

Some of our more advanced visitors will appreciate our free Network Toolbox. This collection of common network diagnostic tools include: name resolution, WHOIS queries, DNS queries by HOST or DIG, PING, and TRACEROUTE. All tests are performed from our servers, which can be very useful for testing DNS configurations from behind a firewall.

More articles and tools are planned. Please check back every so often.
